Your best bet is to just do it Jen. You’ll need to use meta-links and potentially search engine fees to get your site some traffic. There are quite a few dating sites now, so you’ll need a theme linking potential people together (by recreation activities, or christian/jew/whatever). The online game is a learn by doing activity. Do it. Just do it.

My advice

Get a lawyer and talk to them. There are a lot of legal issues with having a dating site, especially in this day and age. You can be held responsible if something happens that was a direct cause of your site.

Background checks and age requirements are a must.
